  • Prayer Requests

    Happy Holidays!

I awoke early this morning with several prayers on my heart. I felt impressed to share these burdens with my friends, knowing that you are men and women of prayer! Here's what was mainly on my mind:

    1) Alistair's recovery.  The good news is that each day Al's getting stronger!  But I know there's a long road ahead, and I'm praying that whatever virus/bacteria/immune reaction that occurred won't recur or cause more complications.  Pray for patience and a complete recovery!

    2) Current fundraising needs. 2007 is nearly over, and there is one project that is especially weighing heavily on my mind.  As many of you know, OHC has begun a media major focusing on video production.  We're very excited about it, especially at the prospects of not only training but also producing mission-focused materials.  We've submitted a bid to do our first production, and have several students enrolled already.  We've also gone out in faith and bought some equipment to start with.  But in order to both prepare the students and do the work we want to do we need to a) equip our auditorium with proper lighting, sound, and cameras, and b) pay for the electronic field production equipment we've already bought and still need.  The bids prepared assumed at least the basics would be in place. Please pray that God will provide for the needs of His work! I know He will.

I feel better just having shared these thoughts with you and knowing that prayers will be added to mine. What a privilege we have in prayer! I don't know how those who don't know Jesus survive when their hearts are burdened.  It is such a relief to cast our cares on Him!

May the remaining days of 2007 be your best yet!

    Chester

  • Wow, thank you for the updates--I am praying for Alister, Luke's family and OHC ... how precious and short life is.  God bless you!  Cristy

  • On the day of Luke's accident, I had this heavy feeling in my heart.  My family had taken a trip with fellow church members to Chicago for a Winterfest held at the Navy Pier.  There was 11 of us, the six of us Jeong's, my two parents-in-law, Hanna, Caleb, and Deborah on the road.  Then, there was Josh, who had just finished GYC, so he was on the road.  My parents were flying out to Hawaii that day.  Maria was out in Georgia.  Of my immediate family, all but Ruth were on the road on that very day, at the very moment I suddenly felt a heaviness in my heart and the urge to pray.  I prayed for traveling mercies, and they were granted to us.

I don't know Luke, but my heart broke when I heard the news.  How I wished my prayers could have extended out beyond my family.  But I know God knows what He is doing.  Saying goodbye is never easy, and I hope the students of OHA and OHC will reconsecrate their lives to God as they reminisce on the life of Luke.

I was also devastated when I heard about Alister.  How frightening this attack must have been for his family.  I have been praying for him.  Please keep us posted on his recovery.

About the OHC media major,...such great potential.  I will keep that in prayer also.

I hope you're doing well, this winter season, Chester.  Hope 2008 brings you many blessings.  As for me, I'm in for a lot of showdowns.  I have DATs in the spring.  I'm kind of freaking out about them...  Pray for me!

  • great post...thanks! :)
